February 29, 2008 — The Eagles and The Moody Blues will perform in June at a two-day celebration of the opening of Hard Rock Park, and the park will sponsor a celebrity golf cournament featuring LPGA star Paula Creamer, The Moody Blues musicians and other golf pros, the park announced today.
Tickets to the events will go on sale 11 a.m. March 17 at the park's entrance off of U.S. 501 and online at hardrockpark.com.
The park, which bills itself the world's first rock 'n' roll theme park, has been promising big-name bands to celebrate its inaugural year. Hard Tock Park will be the first major theme park in an area long known for its beaches and golf courses.
The Moody Blues came to Myrtle Beach in October to announce that one of the park's rides would be set to the band's hit song "Nights in White Satin." Band members promised then that they would return.
The park is scheduled to open to a limited number of people on April 15, with an official opening May 9. The gala opening will be June 2 and 3.
The Eagles will play at the park's ampitheater June 2, and The Moody Blues will play June 3 after christening the ride, according to a park press release.
The celebrity golf tournament, which will be held June 2 at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, will be hosted by PGA tour veteran Peter Jacobsen, who is known as one of the bigger characters in golf. Jacobsen will also host a golf clinic.
